The last day of vacation we spent at the beach, which was super lovely, but also probably the worst idea ever when most of your family burns…and when I say burn, I mean 3rd degree burns if we aren’t very careful…and it was also the day before we had to get in the car for 24 hours to drive home… Like I said, WORST IDEA EVER!
Even though the day ended in 4 terrible sunburns (thankfully I was not one of them!) It was still a great day, to end an amazing family trip. St. Petersburg was so beautiful, and it was such a neat experience to stand on the pier and see stingrays swimming below. Here are some photos from the last day of our adventure in Florida.
^All day we had been spraying her with sunscreen, and she kept emphasizing how tanned she was…Turned out that she wasn’t tanned at all, and when we finally convinced her to change in to her pyjama’s she walks in from the bathroom sobbing. She was so burnt. Poor girl. Thank goodness for advil and aloe!
By 9 o’clock at night after a long day at Disney World Rachel was getting tired. We had decided to see the earlier of the two parades, but were completely unaware that you have to show up super early if you actually want to be able to see the parade. So these pictures show a sequence that could have quite easily ended in a complete meltdown by my no-so-little tiny human…
Picture 1: Rachel happily watching the parade while standing on a bench.
Picture 2: Rachel trying her best to be mature and not cry after being told she can no longer stand on the bench.
Picture 3: But after a long day at Disney she was tired, and holding back the tears just wasn’t going to work. (I probably should not have taken a picture of her crying face, but I think it is so darn cute!)
Picture 4: I really, really hate to see my Monk cry and before the tears began to fall I offered her a shoulder ride. (****So I look horrible in this picture****)
Picture 5: Then she happily watched the rest of the parade from my shoulders…It was a really long parade…
Recently I took a road trip to St. Augustine with my family and I have to say it is one of the most beautiful places I have ever been. The beach, the history, and the little shops were amazing. After a long car ride it was the perfect way to spend our day.
Our first stop after we got off the highway was the beach. We all changed out of our sweats and went for a stroll. It was very humid, but very nice after the winter..err..spring we have had. None of us were in our swimsuits, so originally we were only going to go into the water until it hit our ankles…but we were quickly in to our knees. While jumping the waves we spotted a pointy fin under the pier. Naturally I went running out of the ocean as fast as I can… I honestly thought it was only something that happened in movies, but apparently not. According to the ‘shark patrol’ it was just a baby and would not hurt us… Sorry, but that was not very reassuring to this girl and I only got my feet wet after that.
Speaking of feet, these shoes are super cute right?! Well, I think so and I decided that it would be fun if my little sister had a pair as well …Unfortunately, that little tiny human decided to jump waves in her’s and lost one in the ocean. Yep, the brand new shoes that I just bought her were now gone… Still taking deep breaths… But how can you stay mad at this tiny human? …even in her flip-flops.
Below are some of the other cool images I captured while exploring the city.
^^^This poster was on the front of a little gift shop. Rachel wanted to go in there so badly without us so she could get a free puppy…
^^^I love everything about the city.
^^^`The home of the ‘baby shark’. I kept my distance…
^^^^I am not sure why, but I love taking photos of signs.
I’ve missed posting on this blog over the last month and can now officially say that I am back and ready to share my adventures again! School over the past 8 months has taken a lot out of me, but has all in all made me a much better person. On top of being very busy and very tired during the month of April, I also went on an adventure with my family to a beautiful farmer’s market a few towns over. It was the first nice day of the year (the Canadian weather has been interesting…) and it was definitely nice to take a break from studying! So even though you couldn’t come on the adventure with me, I thought I would share some of the pictures.
Did I mention that I got to break out my favourite pair of sandals? I told you it was a nice day…
The first stop of the day was breakfast at the most adorable little diner, just outside the town where the Farmer’s Market was located. After eight months of dorm food, I haven’t been too keen on anything be fresh fruits and vegetables. So instead of a meal (which still looked very delicious) I opted for a smoothie and boy was it a great choice. I’m a VERY picky smoothie drinker and this combination of Raspberries, blueberries, and pomegranate was excellent. But enough with the writing, here are the rest of the pictures!
How cute are these?! I had to give me Dad my wallet so I wouldn’t buy one…or five.
